Anime Expo® Attendee Autograph/Sketch Policy
- Single Ticket Panels
- Tickets are NOT required to receive an autograph or sketch from a Guest of Honor (GoH). However, attendees with tickets are given priority at the Regular Autograph Sessions. These tickets denote eligibility ONLY, and do not guarantee that the holder will receive anything. Tickets are handed out at the beginning of the GoH’s Focus Panel as you enter the room.
- Two Ticket Panels
- If the interest in attending a Guest of Honor’s (GoH) Focus Panel becomes very high, to the point where seating becomes extremely limited or is reduced to standing room only, a two-ticket system is where an additional ticket is given out at the end of the Focus Panel. This two-ticket system is designed so attendees can enjoy the GoH’s panels without having to worry about other attendees camping out in the autograph area during the Focus Panel. This means that BOTH tickets are required to receive priority at the Regular Autograph Sessions.
- Sketches
- Some Guest of Honor’s (GoH) raffle off a limited number of sketches at the end of their panel. You MUST be present to win, so it is highly recommended that you stay for the entire panel. If you are a raffle winner, your name, badge number and winning ticket number will be recorded and verified later at the Regular Autograph Session.
- Regular Autograph Sessions
- ANY ATTENDEE can attend Regular Autograph Sessions; however, those with tickets will be given priority. Tickets can be obtained by going to the Guest of Honor’s (GoH) Focus Panel. Attendees without tickets will have to wait in a secondary line. If a two-ticket system was used at the GoH’s Focus Panel, attendees with both tickets will be given priority, then those with one ticket, then those with no tickets.
- You are responsible for providing your own material for signing. No materials will be provided at the autograph session. Please make sure your item is properly licensed and that the item is from something the GoH worked on. Some GoH’s may be offended if they are presented with bootleg/un-official items or artwork that is not theirs to be signed.
- IF you miss or cannot attend the Regular Autograph Session, please try to attend the Open Autograph Session.
- Tickets only denote eligibility to receive an autograph at the regular sessions. They do NOT guarantee you will receive an autograph, and cannot be used to get priority at the Open Autograph Sessions.
- Sketch Winners
- If a Guest of Honor (GoH) raffled off sketches at his/her Focus Panel, the first part of the Regular Autograph Session is dedicated to the sketch winners. This can, and usually does take up a significant amount of time (30 minutes or more). This is done to benefit both the artist and the attendees, as artists have an easier time getting into the groove when drawing continuously. Sketch winners should show up as early as possible to maintain the flow. Attendees who want to wait in line for autographs earlier may do so, since there will be a separate line for those who have won sketches.
- You are responsible for providing your own material to receive your sketch. No materials will be provided at the autograph sessions.
- If you are a sketch winner, it is your responsibility for attending the regular autograph session. You will not be allowed to ask for your sketch at the Open Autograph Session.
- Open Autograph Sessions
- The Open Autograph session is held on the morning of the last day of the convention and is for AUTOGRPAHS ONLY (Sorry, NO SKETCHES). There are no tickets for this event and it is strictly on a first come, first serve basis. The Open Autograph session is attended at the sole discretion of each Guest of Honor (GoH). Each GoH may end his/her participation in the Open Autograph session at any time before the session officially ends. Some GoH’s may continue to sign autographs after the Open Autograph session has officially ended. Please do not abuse the GoH’s generosity. When they say they are finished, they are finished. There is no limit to the amount of autographs you may receive but you may only receive one (1) autograph you may receive but you may only receive one (1) autograph per time in line.
- You are responsible for providing your own material for signing. No materials will be provided at the autograph session. Please make sure your item is properly licensed and that the item is from something the GoH worked on. Some GoH’s may be offended if they are presented with bootleg/un-official items or artwork that is not theirs to be signed.
- Other Ways to Receive An Autograph
- In the event that you miss a Guest of Honor’s (GoH) Regular Autograph Session and the Open Autograph Session, you can also obtain an autograph by bidding on and winning an item donated by the GoH at the Charity Auction. Some of the best items are often donated, signed and sometimes personally drawn by the GoH’s.
- Some companies may also hold sponsored autograph sessions for GoH’s and other special guests. Please check with the various companies at their booths for more information.
